Kelp Sirens

This fine art photography series is a visual meditation on the symbiotic relationship between the feminine form and the untamed beauty of the underwater world. Shot within the surreal and serene kelp forests of California's Channel Islands, each image invites viewers into a dreamlike world where women—representing diverse archetypes—become part of the ocean's delicate ecosystem. The kelp, with its garden-like quality, acts as both sanctuary and mirror, reflecting themes of transformation, power, and rebirth.

Each figure embodies the duality of strength and vulnerability, with elements of mythology and fantasy woven into the imagery. The woman in the red dress represents passion and confidence; the tattooed woman celebrates individuality and raw authenticity; the mermaid figure embodies mystery and allure. Together, they form a narrative of feminine power, symbolizing the different facets of womanhood while moving gracefully through the kelp’s organic, fluid environment.

The kelp forests act as a natural extension of the human form, their tendrils entwining with the figures in a dance of unity. The relationship between the women and the underwater gardens speaks to themes of environmental consciousness, reminding us of the beauty and fragility of the natural world. As they float toward the light, there’s a sense of harmony and symbiosis, evoking a return to nature.

The Channel Island are an archipelago off the coast of California. I embarked on a 5 days journey on board of Vision to shoot the Kelp Sirens colelction.

A moment of rest floating on top of a Kelp forest with my partner, I am definitely in my happy place despite the cold water!
